Trent Hill

Associate Teaching Professor, The Information School, University of Washington

Class Year

1994

Professional Background:

I teach a range of courses in the history and foundations of library and information science as well as knowledge organization.

How has your English degree from Duke shaped your work life?

It was my entrée into academe. I left literary studies after coming to the realization that being an English professor wasn't a good fit for me, intellectually and personally, as much as I loved the years I spent as a PhD student in Duke English. But the theoretical and interpretive acumen I developed there made for a good fit with some of the more theoretically nuanced and complex areas of information science that I was drawn to.
