How has your English degree from Duke shaped your work life?

My degree in English and my work in creative writing gave me the confidence to write for children and teens. I earned my MFA from the U of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1988 and went on to teach at Mills College in Oakland for 35 years, pioneering courses in their MFA program in writing for Young Adults.
