Prior to my position as assistant editor, I started out as the editorial assistant for Highlights Learning, assisting in the development of curriculum-based activity workbooks for kids aged 2 to 8.
It has enabled me to think critically about how our illustrations and words work together on the page--and within the society/cultural moments we're publishing into--to convey stories and teach concepts in ways that make all children feel seen and respected. Additionally, all of the seminar discussions that were a part of my English coursework set me up with the ability to see situations from every angle--enabling me to anticipate and solve problems as we develop brand new formats.
