Professional Background:

I joined Google's ad sales team after graduating Duke and eventually transferred to Google Beijing's growing team. There I served in several roles including Account Executive, sales trainer, and Agency Partnership Manager, and Industry Analyst Manager. I later followed my director to lead marketing at a Chinese mobile accessories brand Anker. I have since returned to the U.S. and am now Marketing Director at Atlanta-based tech company Cardlytics.

How has being an English graduate from Duke University helped shape your professional success?:

Strong verbal and written communication are highly sought skills in today's job market, and my English degree has prepared me to excel in every single professional role I've held. This has been especially true in my roles abroad and in my marketing positions where product positioning, public relations, and even customer service require sensitivity to nuance. Although an English degree may not offer immediately obvious career paths, the skills you gain will absolutely help you no matter what field you choose to enter.
