Caryl Phillips

We are excited to have Caryl Phillips joining us for the Spring 2020 residency with Duke’s English Department. Caryl Phillips is a novelist, playwright, and essayist, and among his many novels are The Final Passage (1985), Crossing the River (1993), A Distant Shore (2003) The Lost Child (2015), and A View of Empire at Sunset (2018). He is the winner of multiple awards, and is professor of English at Yale University.

*Monday, February 246-8 pm (Allen 314, West Campus): Caryl Phillips lecture: “In the Ghetto: One Night in Venice”. For off-campus visitors who want to request visitor parking for the Allen Parking lot, please fill out this surveyno later than 12PM on Friday 2/21. Otherwise, visitor parking on west campus can be found here.

*Wednesday, February 266-8 pm (Ahmadieh Family Lecture Hall, Smith Warehouse, Bay 4 (114 S Buchanan Blvd): Joint reading with Caryl Phillips and Akhil Sharma. Visitor parking available on-site.
