Tracy C. Gold loves bringing characters to life. She is a writer, freelance editor, and mom living in Baltimore, Maryland. Her picture books include “Everyone’s Sleepy but the Baby” from Familius, “Trick or Treat, Bugs to Eat” from Sourcebooks, and “Call Your Mother,” forthcoming from Familius in 2023. She also writes short stories, essays, novels, and poems. As a freelance editor, Tracy works with memoirists, novelists, and picture book writers, many of whom have gone on to land book deals with major publishers. She is represented by literary agent Carrie Pestritto. Her work has been published in several magazines and anthologies. Tracy earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts at the University of Baltimore and earned her B.A. in English from Duke University. When she’s not writing or editing, she’s playing with her toddler, or hanging out with her horse and dog, both rescues. How has your English degree from Duke shaped your work life?

I still pinch myself regularly because I can't believe people pay me to read their books and tell them what I think of them. It's a dream career. My time discussing literature and writing at Duke helped give me the experience I needed to do my job well.
