General Surgery Chief Resident at VCU Health, Fellowship in Immunotherapy and Surgical Oncology from the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Health
As an author of numerous peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and a phase II clinical trial, my English degree from Duke University taught me more than just how to write- I learned how to think critically, analyze information, and most importantly, how to communicate, a skill which is vital as a surgeon caring for sick patients. I often am asked why I chose to major in a non-science field. I always answer that there is no other degree that would have benefited me more.
