My professional background includes 10 years in film and video production in Los Angeles and New York City, followed by a return to graduate school to pursue my first love, the marine sciences. The transition resulted in a successful and productive career in marine science and conservation. I am now a deep-sea biologist and explorer working for the federal government to protect and conserve deep-sea habitats.
Duke's English department taught me how to write and to reason effectively. This is critical to marine science, where peer-reviewed manuscripts and research proposals are the central products of the scientific enterprise.
