I've served in university administration for my entire career, at some great universities--beginning as a live-in residence life professional, serving as a counselor in a counseling center, working with student leadership programs, and eventually becoming a senior administrator. Along the way I received a Ph.D. in Counseling Administration and have taught graduate students and directed dissertations. Working directly with students to help them claim their place and find their passion keeps me young!
An English major is a license to read critically, think deeply, and imagine wildly. A great vocabulary and a way with words help in any profession, but in university life they are essential. The ability to immerse myself in a book means I am never alone, never bored, and always able to make great conversation.
