How has your English degree from Duke shaped your work life?

When I graduated from Duke, I enrolled in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I specialized in Literature and Culture. I have spent my career as a professor teaching African American Literature, so the foundation that I built at Duke has continued to inform my career at every stage.
