It provided a necessary degree, a "credential." My graduate education at Duke was truly awful (not awesme). Except for Charles Fenton, my instructors were terrible teachers. SOme of my teachers were friendly, decent people, but there was no apostolic fervor for literature, and even their knowledge, were at an unacceptable level (at least according to my standards). I have essentially been an autodidact (all my life). Willhunt for a photo that doesn't look like a model for a gargoyle.
