Since joining the UNC Department of English I have risen through the ranks, eight years ago becoming the first woman chair of this department. I am a Victorianist and have published widely on 19th-century British writers. My greatest joy has been working on the poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, both editing her previously unpublished works and writing critical studies.
I was in the right place at the right time to get a wonderful job just 10 miles down the road from Duke.
