Professional Background

After Duke, I worked as a reporter for a local real estate, politics and land use blog in Houston. Afterwards, I attended law school at UVa and now practice corporate and real estate law in that same city.

How has being an English graduate from Duke University help shape your professional success?

Being an English graduate at Duke enabled me to repeatedly construct complex arguments on all sorts of texts. While constantly pressing me to improve my writing, it also (pardon the cliche) introduced me to new ways of looking at literature, history, politics or just day-to-day social life. It is just an all-around excellent liberal arts department. Some of the best teaching I've ever experienced.
