Public school teacher, alumni relations and development officer at Duke and University of Virginia, economic developer in Oxford, NC
The communications, organization and research skills I developed at Duke have helped me in every aspect of my professional life. More importantly, the English experience at Duke helped develop life skills -- the ability to appreciate and understand an array of cultures, the fascination with lifelong learning and the sheer joy of scholarship. I don't think any other major could have better prepared me for achievement in a constantly changing world.
