Bass Seminar "AI Invades the Classroom: What’s an Instructor to Do?"

Friday, November 7, -
Speaker(s): Featuring Aarthi Vadde, E. Blake Byrne Associate Professor of English and Kristin Stephens-Martinez, Associate Professor of the Practice of Computer Science. Moderated by Orin Starn, Professor of Cultural Anthropology.
Like it or not, AI isn’t going anywhere. Duke wants to position itself as an AI leader. A recent licensing agreement with OpenAI has made ChatGPT free to students and faculty. But what does this mean for our teaching? Can we assign take-home essays and problem sets anymore? How do or don’t students learn using AI? What are ways forward beyond Luddite rejection, technophilic embrace, or wishy-washy in-betweenism?

Lunch is provided. Registration is required as space is limited!
