How has your English degree from Duke shaped your work life?

My English degree has been fundamental in so many ways, from thinking critically to writing clearly, capturing and telling stories purposefully, and challenging my own biases and sacred cows. Mostly importantly, it provided the foundation for career in public service grounded in a curiosity about the humanity of people and societies, no matter how different they may seem from myself.
