Wide-ranging career in the philanthropic and public sectors focused on reducing poverty locally and globally, from being a founding CEO twice to serving as a U.S. special envoy to the UN to negotiate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently lead a policy initiative focused on modernizing public policy to better support rural places in the U.S. that have been left behind.
My English degree has been fundamental in so many ways, from thinking critically to writing clearly, capturing and telling stories purposefully, and challenging my own biases and sacred cows. Mostly importantly, it provided the foundation for career in public service grounded in a curiosity about the humanity of people and societies, no matter how different they may seem from myself.
