English Language Arts Teacher- taught 6th through 8th grades literature, grammar/mechanics, writing, and vocabulary through the University of Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education; Analyst, Senior Analyst, Associate Director, and Director of Research at EAB- I have worked in education research since 2017 and now manage a team of researchers serving K-12 and higher ed executives on topics ranging from student success to operations and finances. I currently manage the learning and development for much of the Research department.
My English degree demanded a level of rigor and precision in my writing that continues to serve me in any role. In my current capacity as a manager, I review, edit, and coach others on their writing, which continuously reminds me of the value of a strong writing background. In my former role as a middle school ELA teacher, I relied on many of the expert teaching tactics demonstrated by my English professors at Duke; I also relied heavily on my background in literature when selecting texts and analyzing them with my students. I'm very grateful I chose to major in English at Duke!
