Have been daily newspaper journalist, National Park Service writer, college professor
I studied English because I loved English literature. I should have pursued grad studies in English but did not think it was practical so instead I completed Duke Divinity School and then an M.A. in journalism. I have spent my professional career as a writer and/or teacher/professor of writing. I still read widely and still love literature as it has evolved.
