How has being an English graduate from Duke University helped shape your professional success?
A degree that is centered on words, research, communication, and developing a thesis/argument has helped in how I interact with the world whether it is casual conversation to interaction in the boardroom. Whether it is sending a text and email or writing a formal proposal or working on personal writing interests, my English degree provided a solid foundation of how words matter and how to be effective what and how I speak and what and how I write. It certainly helped in law school in that I was already used to a large amount of reading, writing, and research.
