Visiting Scholar Program

The English Department invites approximately 4-6 Visiting Scholars each year. Visitors are typically professors, often from universities outside the U.S., who are interested in research opportunities at Duke. Recent scholars have come from China, Korea, Pakistan, Spain and Italy, as well as from other universities in the US.

Visits range from a few months to an entire academic year. Visiting scholars enjoy full use of the facilities and resources of Trinity College in order to pursue their individual research projects. During their time at Duke, visiting scholars are able to further their academic research in ways that lead to enriched pedagogy and enhanced publication.

Application materials include a brief but spcific project proposal outlining the research the scholar hopes to do at Duke.   Participants will be selected on the basis of project proposals and the availability of English faculty in the specific field of study.
