The Americanist Speaker Series facilitates the development of a local
community of scholars. This series attempts to foster this community while
interrogating how we delineate "Americanist" within and across disciplinary,
geographic, thematic, and methodological lines.
DukeReads is an interactive online book club. Seven titles, offered over seven months, are selected by Duke bibliophiles. Interested readers can purchase the books at a discount online from the Gothic Bookshop.
Each discussion will feature a conversation between NPR’s Frank Stasio and a Duke guest. To join in the discussion, log in 5 minutes before the scheduled start time (7 pm) and listen to the presenters via either your computer speakers or phone. You can post questions using an Instant Message chat window, and after the session, you can download video and post further comments on the DukeReads discussion form.
Dukereads is sponsored by the Duke Alumni Association and Duke University Libraries, the English department, and a number of other partners.
