2015
My professional background isn't terribly extensive, but: I graduated from Duke in December 2015, and I took an internship with ClickHole. I was hired full time as an Editorial Assistant and was a staff writer at ClickHole when I left to join the staff of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj.
My experience in the English department taught me to write clearly, to speak honestly, and, most importantly, to seek out ideas that might not be traditional or apparent. The English department taught me how to think about a narrative and how to surprise people in my writing. It also encouraged me to learn about things for no other reason than that they might be interesting or compelling. Lastly, the department is also the community at Duke that most convinced me I could be creative. I'm grateful to it.
